History

Established in December 2006

Kristen Allcorn, a Smith-Cotton High School student, visited a homeless shelter in Kansas City, Missouri. She fell in love with the idea of providing a free meal to her community and decided to bring the service to Sedalia.  In the beginning, Kristen and some friends served an evening meal once a week. She asked for help from local businesses, churches, and organizations and the Community Cafe quickly grew to operating five nights a week. Today, the Community Cafe continues to be managed by Smith-Cotton High School volunteers.
